She is excited by the passion students have for their CUs and is grateful for the opportunity to support them as they share the news of Jesus with their friends. Claire loves running, baking and enjoying a 99 by the sea! She is married to Colin and they have a beautiful little girl.

Karen Jones - Training and Local Ministry

karen-jonesKaren became a Christian on a summer camp and went on to become part of the leadership team at her school Christian Union. An exciting but challenging time as the CU felt very out of their depth. Festive is an organisation she wished she had had contact with when she was in Sixth Form. Karen learnt about Festive while she was studying for a Social Work degree. At that time she was heavily involved in youth work and discipleship at her Church, she spent a year volunteering for Festive which progressed to her role as Student Trainer and Advice provider in 2010! Karen is married to Gavin and they have just had a little boy!

Cathy Williams - Advice & Guidance and Part Time Chaplain at Yale College

cathy-williamsCathy is the 'new girl in class'. She joined the Festive team in May 2012 to provide maternity cover for Karen and stayed on to cover for Claire! Cathy has been on the VST since the start but now she actually gets the chance to work for Festive. Woohoo! If you write to ' This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ' she will write back to you and if you stop for a chat at a Festive stand you'll get to meet her. Cathy now lives in North Wales with her husband John.  She has five grown up children and an increasing tribe of grandchildren!

Advisers

John and Cathy Williams

John-Cathy-WilliamsJohn and Cathy have been engaged in student ministry since 1979, both in the UK and overseas through UCCF and IFES. For 17 years they worked in Madagascar with students in universities and secondary schools, and in the production of Christian literature in the local language. They recently moved to North Wales where John is researching and writing Christian materials on Mission while Cathy teaches English to foreign nationals for the Welsh Refugee Council and for Glyndwr University, Wrexham. They have five grown children and four grandchildren.

Kath Cunningham

kath-cunninghamKath lives in Brighton and loves nothing more than a good cup of tea and a chat. She previously worked with students, specialising in small CU’s and some FE work, for 7 years, both in a church context and working for UCCF as a Staff Worker. She is now married to the lovely Kevin and works part time for a charity. She passionately believes in, and loves, the reality that God chose the weak and foolish things to shame the wise and delights in seeing Him do that in the FE world.

Martin Povey, Association of Evangelists - Speaker and Resources

Martin PoveyMartin works as an Evangelist with the Association of Evangelists (www.aofe.org.uk), based in the Sussex area. Within that role, Martin spends some of his time working with Festive; helping students with their outreach and writing resources to equip CUs. Martin has enjoyed supporting CUs in the world class arena of Further Education for the last 10 years. He has a desire to see the gospel understood, believed and lived out – particularly at College! Martin is married to Claire and they live less than a mile from McDonalds (This is a problem when you have his love of Double cheeseburgers!).

Andy Clark

Andy ClarkAndy has been involved in Youth Ministry since leaving Uni in 1997. Having worked for various churches as youth minister and been to theological college during these years. He now lives in Barton Seagrave on the edge of Kettering with his wife and two girls and is Associate Minister in a local church. Here he has particular responsibility for the youth ministry. Andy's passion is to see young people come to faith in Christ and grow in him to become mature believers. He has a particular interest in training young people in leadership and is heavily involved in the 'Equipped' event. Being involved in Youth ministry has given Andy the opportunities to work in FE and sixth form colleges and he is currently praying for opportunities in his local FE College.

Trustees

David James - Head of Trustees

David JamesDavid worked in Further Education for over 30 years both as a lecturer and as a manager.  He became a Christian during that time and for 24 years (with the odd barren year) he supported students in establishing and running a Christian Union. It was in this role that he came to recognise the great value that support from organisations such as UCCF, local churches, and now Festive has in enabling Christian students to live out their faith at college.

Sonia Wardle

Sonia WardleSonia originates from the West Midlands but went to university at Bangor in North Wales where she studied English with Biblical Studies as an accessory subject. She had come to faith in her teens but found her faith confirmed and strengthened through the fellowship and teaching of the Christian Union. Sonia taught for two years after leaving Bangor and was then invited to join the staff of the IVF (UCCF) as a Travelling Secretary (Staff Worker) in the universities and colleges of Wales, Ireland, Birmingham and Keele. Four years later she became Women's Secretary and moved to London to be based in the office in Bedford Square. After leaving UCCF, Sonia then became an English teacher once again before retiring in 1999. Her association with FE Colleges' work came through joining the London prayer group when it was first formed. Moved by some of the hurdles FE students have to face to establish and maintain a witness in the colleges Sonia became committed to pray and do anything she could to support such a work.

Rev. Fred Olney

Fred OlneyFred became a Christian when he was a geography student and is now a vicar in Staffordshire. After working as a teacher in the Caribbean, in retail management and for 8 years in pioneer church and youth work in France, Fred was appointed to the new post of UCCF Development Officer for FE Colleges. Between 1986 and 1996 his role included producing resources and especially recruiting, training and encouraging a large network of volunteer helpers for student Christian Unions in FE colleges. A new full time colleague was also appointed for London. Fred also served for 10 years on the West Midlands Churches FE Council and a National FE committee.

John Richards

John RichardsJohn was born in Wales but grew up in Cheshire and became a Christian when he was a teenager. He went to university in Sheffield before returning to his homeland and going to Cardiff University. Here he began his involvement in student witness and was president of the Christian Union for a year. Following graduation John worked as an accountant for the Audit Commission for 5 years before joining UCCF in 2003. He worked for UCCF in North Wales for 4 years which included working with some of the Further Education colleges in the region.  John is now co-pastor of a Baptist church in Mold, North Wales. He is married to Katherine and they have three children.
